I think that the beginning of the film is the most attention gathering beginning of a movie I have ever seen in my life. I am a movie lover, and the beginning was truly amazing. They used great sound effects, multiple videos of destruction in the world that literally flashed by in front of your eyes and it kind of just made you think of so many different things in such a short period of time. When they begin the interviews, it shows different people in the world giving their thoughts and facts on what is going on in our world “as we destroy nature we will be destroyed in the process”. That sentence says so much in less than 15 words. They show that they care about what they say and that they are truly worried for what is to come. I think that the filmmakers' purpose in producing this documentary was to show how much we have harmed the environment, the place that we live in and the only place that we will thrive in. The producers want to portray that if we don’t save this environment we won’t survive. It is a “suicide mission” if we continue to live as we do. This film perfectly portrays all the damages that we have caused to our world starting millions of centuries ago. This film includes environmental activists, scientists, historians, biochemists and so many more reliable sources that have cared about our earth for years and they do not fail to state all the damages that the world has lived through. Yet they also explain how extraordinary the human race is and the power that we have in our lives and all that we could achieve by just making the right choices. The human brain is our key to survival as one of the speakers stated, “we can affect the future with what we do today”, so all the damage we can see for example the damage to our climate and all natural systems that have kept us alive for all these years is all in our hands. Us humans have to be connected with Earth and we have to realize that we are not superior and separated from nature we need to make sure we live off one another. We are the smartest creatures on Earth but with this level of knowledge we have also doomed our environment due to selfishness, due to the longing of power, due to social class due to all those things that we keep paying a price for in our everyday life. In this film we are told that nature is a resource, but nature gave us its finger and we took its entire hand, and the resources will only last so long unless we make a change, and we make it now. This film was produced about 10 years ago, so if back then there was an issue by now our environment has undergone so much damage that without a change by the year 2050, we might not be able to look outside our window and see the beauty we see today. I would most definitely recommend this film, I think it really does open my eyes to all the things that I see around me that are so damaging to my world, our environment, the only place we know. It showed me how much more I should care about what is out there and how I cannot be selfish because again being the smartest species on Earth will not keep us alive if the world, we live in is on fire literally and figuratively.
